The Blood of Dawnwalker Summer Game Fest trailer explained
What the 2026 Summer Game Fest trailer actually showed for The Blood of Dawnwalker, from Coen's infection to rooftop running, and how it reads now the game is out.

The Summer Game Fest trailer arrived in June 2026 as the last big cinematic push before release. It is short, it is almost all mood, and it does something the earlier gameplay overviews did not: it frames Coen as the monster rather than the hero.
What the trailer shows
The trailer opens on Coen’s infection and then piles on vampire power. He attacks ordinary people, runs across rooftops, blinks short distances, blasts walking human husks apart with his mind, and ends up in a sword fight against a huge creature. Coverage at the time read it as a Witcher 3 successor showing off spectacle rather than systems, which is exactly what a showcase trailer is for.
The dialogue and who is talking
Almost the whole trailer is one confrontation, cut into fragments. The villain never explains the plot, but the lines do set up the argument the full game runs on: that Coen and his enemy may want the same thing.
| Line | What it sets up |
|---|---|
| You certainly have reasons to hate me | A personal grudge, not a political one |
| I’ve done the unthinkable for my own family | Family as Coen’s justification |
| You’re a pawn in Brencis’s hands | The villain underestimates his enemy |
| Maybe we aren’t so different after all | The human and monster theme |
The modern-day tease
A second Summer Game Fest trailer, The Dawnwalker Saga, opened with a courier delivering a package to a present-day Coen. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek said future entries will move to different eras, locations and cultures. So the modern scene reads as a franchise tease rather than a promise about this game. It is the clearest signal that Rebel Wolves is planning a saga, not a one-off.
How it held up after launch
Now that the game is out, the trailer reads a little differently. The double life is real and central, and the time-limited structure wrapped around it is the feature reviewers argue about most. The open conflict with Brencis also matches the shipped game. But the marketing never explained the 30-day clock or the Court system. That left a lot of day-one players surprised by how much of the game is resource management.
